Cables Plus USA Cables

Filed under: Cables, Fiber Optic Cables, Serial Cables — admin @ 2:43 pm

Cables Plus USA sells a variety of different cables, hence the name.  Below are some of the cables that Cables Plus carries and a description what these different cables do.

Fiber optic cables are network cables that are made out of a bundle of thin strands of glass.  This technology uses the glass fibers to transmit digital data.  The messages and data that are transmitted through these cables merge into a carrier signal and are adjusted to light waves.  The digital information that is carried through these lines is sent over long distances.

Firewire cables are designed to connect Firewire peripherals, external devices that are used to increase the potential of the communication system, to Firewire enabled computers.  When the connection is made by the firewire, between the two mechanisms it makes it easier for information to be shared and enables the data to be accessed at a faster pace.

Serial cables are those that connect serial devices to serial communication ports.  These cables can be made using D-submarine connectors depending on what is will be used for.  Also, the number of wires that are housed within the cable will vary depending on the circuits that are required. The length that the actual serial cable will end up being will depend on the individuality of the serial port receivers and transmitters.

Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS)

Uninterruptable power supplies, UPS, are devices that provide emergency back-up power.  This type of device usually supplies power to different types of equipment for a short-period of time until a supplementary power supply can be activated or power is actually re-established.

A UPS, uninterruptable power supply, can be standalone or made to fit into a relay rack or cabinet to offer power protection.  These devices are most commonly used with telecommunications mechanisms, computers, fiber optics, and other types of data centers and databases.

Video Baluns

A video balun is an impedance transformer that allocates the transmitting of signals that have need for a definite impedance value above a cable that has distinctive impedance.  These video baluns are the strategic factors that permit users to broadcast RGB, S-Video, VGA, YCbCr, composite audio, YPbPr, or composite video over Cat5.

Video baluns are best used when video is sent using Cat5.  These baluns are also useful in video installations.

They provide the essential 75Ohm impedance to the video devices while providing 100Ohm impedance to the cabling infrastructure.

USB Technology

Filed under: USB Cables & Hubs, USB Flash Drive — admin @ 2:52 pm

A USB, Universal Serial Bus, is a mechanism that allows other devices to be connected with a solitary uniform interface socket.  There are different types of USB devices that are used from things such as memory and communication.

USB devices are able to connected and disconnected from the computer without having to shut it down

The USB flash drive is a data storage mechanism that uses flash memory.  The drive is incorporated with a USB, Universal Serial Bus, connector.  These storage devices are very small, weighing about 2 ounces and measuring in length from 1 to 4 inches.

USB, Universal Serial Bus, cables are mechanisms that are designed to allow a variety of different external devices that increase communication capabilities to be connected to a computer or other data communications device.  These mechanisms use a uniform interface socket to connect to the computer.  USB cables and hubs advance plug-and-play capacities by permitting the computer to have numerous devices connected to it without having to shut it down or turn it off.

Network Accessories

When using a network, at home or in the office, there are many accessories that are necessary to make the network operate at its best and highest potential.

Network switches are computer networking devices that are used to connect segments of a network.  The switch is able to process the data that is being transferred throughout the network and direct it using a data link layer.

A network interface card is considered to be a part of computer hardware that allows a computer to communicate across the devices network.  This card allows the computer to provide access to the user to a networking system, as well as an addressing system. The interface part of this card is able to control a network proficient mechanism to access networks, such as the Internet.

Ethernet cables are usually used to connect networks and computers together.  They can also be used to connect routers, hubs, switches, etc.  The Ethernet itself is a frame-based network that is used for LANs, local area networks, and connecting to the Internet.
