When and Where to Use a Cage Nut

Filed under: Cage Nuts — admin @ 11:49 am

For some people the use of notes and bolts and screws and the like can be confusing. It’s always hard to tell which goes where and what should be used with what. When it comes to technology equipment you may employ the use of equipment racks, and these racks employ the use of something called cage nuts. You may find yourself wondering, what is a cage nut?

A cage nut is a square nut contained in a spring steel cage that is wrapped around the nut itself. On the cage there are two side pieces called wings that when pressure is applied permit the cage to be interleaved within square holes that are on whatever equipment rack they are being used with. The cage nut, once let loose, will then stay in place in the rack.
